Questions about official Knox County criminal records belong with the agency that keeps the source file. These routes identify the Knoxville counters and Tennessee systems responsible for court cases, sheriff records, booking data, police reports, state histories, and expungement papers.

This Is Not a Government Office. This private reference resource cannot retrieve an official file, perform a government background check, correct or erase a record, or receive an expungement filing. The responsible public office must handle those services.

Need an Official Record?

Use the Knox County or Tennessee custodian that matches the record:

  • State criminal history and official checks: use the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Justice Information Services Division and its TORIS/TN-FlexCheck channel
  • Police and incident reports: request the report from the creating agency, such as KCSO, KPD, UTPD, or THP
  • Expungement: start with the court that handled the case; Knox General Sessions questions and signed forms may go to crim.expungements@knoxcounty.org
  • Registry records: use the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry or contact TBI at 1-888-837-4170
