Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message long enough to respond and manage the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:
- Page-view timestamps and time spent on pages
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The pages requested during the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services use them to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Our content identifies how Knox County records may be requested from the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the Criminal Court Clerk, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not used to create consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted to one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention terms, and sharing rules. Review those terms before running a search because we do not control the provider's practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, court systems, Tennessee agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once you leave this website, the destination's policy governs the visit. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may track activity across websites to select ads. That processing takes place through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information under our control. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Your rights may vary by residence. Tennessee consumer protections include the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, T.C.A. §§47-18-101 and following. The Tennessee Public Records Act, chiefly T.C.A. §§10-7-501 through 10-7-507, governs public records held by Tennessee government custodians and does not turn this private website into a public agency. You may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. A changed version will appear here with a new effective date, and continued use will be subject to the posted version.
